The work
The Xin Tang shu was compiled under Ouyang Xiu and Song Qi; its treatises were carefully done and are better ordered than the Old Tang shu’s.
Contents
It contains the full text of the Dayan calendar and records the Tang calendars in succession.
The methods of Yi Xing’s Dayan calendar survive through this treatise and the Old Tang shu, and are basic for the study of Tang calendrics.
Value
The Song compilers made their own choices; for Tang calendrics the two Tang shu must be read together.
