Development
The Xinghe calendar was made by Li Yexing and others, named for the era and promulgated in it, in use until 549 CE.
Li had made the Zhengguang calendar and then the Xinghe — two versions from one hand, the successive calendars of the Eastern Wei. It lasted only ten years before the Northern Qi Tianbao calendar replaced it.
Background
Eastern Wei and Northern Qi faced Western Wei and Northern Zhou, each with its own calendar; a calendar was also a mark of legitimacy. In this period calendars changed often and lasted, on the whole, briefly.
