Wang Pu and the Qintian calendar
The Qintian calendar was made by Wang Pu and promulgated in 955 CE, replacing the Chongxuan. Wang was an outstanding statesman and scholar of the Five Dynasties, versed in astronomy and the calendar.
It corrected the laxity of earlier eclipse computation and was accounted precise. It was used only four years before the Later Zhou gave way to Song.
Influence
The early Song Yingtian calendar was built on it. Though brief, it was the link from Five Dynasties to Song.
